Description

Is the World Safer Without Osama bin Laden? Is the world safer after the death of Osama bin Laden? This question has bugged the international community in general and the United States in particular, since the leader of al-Qaeda organization was killed by a U.S. Navy commando raid on his hideout in Pakistan on May 2. Although under bin Laden al-Qaeda's terrorist attacks dropped and the group was losing its luster even in Arab and Muslim countries hostile to the U.S. policies, world leaders, particularly U.S. President Barack Obama, considered that the organization was still a major threat to world security and stability. Since bin Laden's death, statements made by al-Qaeda have vowed to carry out retaliatory attacks. A string of bomb attacks that rocked Pakistan in May and June, leaving many people dead and wounded were claimed by Taliban and militant groups linked to al-Qaeda. Pakistan's Taliban militants, who have close ties to al-Qaeda, have carried out a series of attacks to avenge bin Laden's death. They have attacked paramilitary cadets, a US consulate convoy, a naval base and other targets.
